About Makk & The Band
Makk is the artistic moniker of Yorkshire-based singer-songwriter David McEvoy. The name “Makk” is a heartfelt nickname bestowed upon him by family and friends, capturing the personal and intimate nature of his music.

In 2021, Makk met producer and co-writer Jacob Clarke at Evoke Studio in Leeds. Over the last two years, the duo has cultivated a distinctive Indie Dream Folk sound, characterized by lo-fi and experimental production, ethereal and dreamy atmospheres, and Makk’s moody vocals paired with introspective lyrics. Their ambient and mellow sound, with a cinematic feel, draws influences from artists such as Bon Iver, The Tallest Man on Earth, Billie Martin, Wyldest, Flyte, and This is The Kit.

Makk’s music has been met with acclaim, becoming a BBC Introducing featured artist. In 2023, he performed a live studio set for presenter Jericho Keys, who praised him as "pure passion, pure emotion, his voice just cuts through the room, what is there not to like from this singer-songwriter from North Yorkshire."

Transitioning from a solo performer to a full band setup, Makk now captures the full atmosphere and nuances of his new music. The band features drummer Harry Stobart, bassist David Bullock, and lead guitarist Jacob Clarke.

-
Harry Stobart: In addition to playing drums for Makk, Harry promotes jazz events all over Yorkshire, plays in many jazz ensembles, and hosts the Graston Unity Jazz Club.

-
David Bullock: Besides playing bass for Makk, David is a member of the Leeds-based band Mikoudi and collaborates with artists Owen Kennedy, Will Mathews, and Safii Koii.

-
